Day 23 Janathon - We did it!

This morning my running club "Women On The Run" ran their first run together at Fell Foot Parkrun!

It's been a long time coming as we had initially planned to do it on the 12th December but unfortunately that was the day the floods came to Cumbria and it was cancelled and has been ever since!

However, although the lake has still not receded they have managed to reroute the run and have started  up again!

So 8 of us met at 8.45am ready for the 9am start, blissfully unaware that the new route was challengingly hilly!  I am glad we weren't aware as I think I would have struggled to get them there had they known!

We decided that we would start off together as a group, run together as a group and cross the finish line as a group - which we did!

It was an OK morning weatherwise with just a few spits of rain in the air.

We had a laugh and encouraged each other round, a few struggled more than the others but we stuck together!

Once we had crossed the finish line I gave them all a little goody bag along with giving them well deserved a 5K medal.  I am very disappointed that Pete Bland Sports had promised to give each of our Ladies a goody bag on completion but they didn't fulfil this commitment which we were all very disappointed about! However, they were happy with my attempt at making it up to them and we even had cake!

We finished in 38:42 which I think is fantastic for such a hilly course and after only 12 weeks running!

Now I need to convince them to do a 10K!

At the beginning!

This afternoon I went for a nice walk with the dog so as well as my 3.1 running miles I have 3.5 walking miles to add to my totals!

Total Janathon Running miles:  69.17
Total Janathan Walking miles:   22.31
Total Janathan Cycling miles:      Zero
Total Janathon Swimming miles:   6.56

TOTAL JANATHON MILEAGE: 98.04

Positive thought for the day: It is more fullfilling running slowly with others than running faster alone!
